Crybaby Nationalist and the sin of omission – exposed

IN PROFESSIONAL journalism a balanced story, in normal circumstances, is the gold standard of ethical everyday reporting. In partisan propaganda “journalism”, such as that trotted out ad nauseum in the Wings Over Scotland blog, the truth is a subjective matter to be bent to the sovereign will of the editor, Stuart “Blub-blub” Campbell. AhDinnaeKen explains:

A little pointer in the art of transparent propaganda. This guy thinks he can hold the MSM to account? We*'re still laughing.

“Respected impartial UK fact-checking site”? Wings Over Scotland! We*’re still laughing.

By Blub-blub Campbell

“PROPAGANDA MUST not investigate the truth objectively and, in so far as it is favourable to the other side, present it according to the theoretical rules of justice; yet it must present only that aspect of the truth which is favourable to its own side.” – Nationalist grass roots political activist, Germany 1929.

Following on from Sunday’s little twitter spat where Crybaby Nationalist Stuart Campbell, threatened a perfectly civil critic with a police visit (Crybaby Nationalist passim), this time we* have a case of “professional journalism” by omission. Or propaganda, by its real name.

Campbell’s link in the twitter exchange above takes you to his blog where the following statement is quoted verbatim from a Buzzfeed piece put together by Phoebe Arnold:

Those scoundrels, brigands, thieves and rogues. How very dare they.

Those Westminster scoundrels, brigands, thieves and rogues. How very dare they.

Given that the date referred to is 1980, the year following on from the great betrayal of Scotland by eleven SNP turkeys backing Maggie Thatcher, it’s hard not to feel your breast fill with indignant rage at the treatment of our proud region (country)by the Nationalists in handing it over to an arch-monetarist Tory like the Thatch.

But all is not quite as it seems with Blub-blub’s quote. If you follow the link to Phoebe Arnold’s Buzzfeed feature – Blub-blub knows that most of his ‘alert’ readers don’t – there’s a little surprise, in the form of a caveat, directly after:

Oh dear. That kind of undermines the sanctimonious point Blub-blub was making. Not hard to work out why it was omitted.

Oh dear! That nasty naughty “But” – kind of undermines the sanctimonious point Blub-blub was making. Somebody call the police and get that “But” arrested.

Hmm! One can only speculate as to why Crybaby Nationalist Campbell opted to forget about the clearly important caveat of the “But” which follows his sanctimonious rage inducing quote selectively highlighted in his blog.

We*’re sure it’s nothing to do with the fact that it undermines the quote’s impact.

Ethical journalism’s a bitch when it comes to reporting. That’s why Blub-blub Campbell’s blog is nothing to do with ethical journalism.

It’s a clear case of presenting “only that aspect of the truth which is favourable to its own side.”

And that’s what AhDinnaeKen calls propaganda not journalism.

Worth remembering the next time some half-witted Wingnut quotes Blub-blub’s blog as an authoritative source.

BBC to blame for Scotland’s spinelessness – Salmond

BROKEN bitter blustering loser hits out at the BBC for non-compliance to the ‘Scottish’ way of doing things:

Marr - an assimilated Englishman who long ago sold out his sovereign nation.

Come the day of Independence and reckoning, Marr will be one of the first BBC stoolpigeons up against the wall.

By Crybaby Loser

SCOTTISH REFERENDUM loser, Nonminster Salmond, has declared cybernat conspiracy theory ‘open season’ on the BBC.

Blaming the Beeb for everything from his exposed lying to Andrew Neil, to not reporting his scare stories on the NHS properly, the increasingly bitter crybaby angrily denied that he might have had something to do with September 18’s result.

Salmond, who recently stood down as faither of the nation and saviour (heroic loser division) of the people, declared that if it hadn’t been for the BBC then he could have pulled the wool over the eyes of every voter in Scotland – including the traitorous coffin dodging over 55s.

He said: “I would have got away with it if it hadn’t been for those pesky BBC kids and their half-baked ideas of ‘journalistic scrutiny’.”

But the BBC were blase over Salmond’s response.

“We’ve seen it all before” a bored and disinterested BBC government apparatchik said.

“Birds coming home to roost springs to mind. Impotent frustrated politicians always have to have someone else to blame – especially the power mad Nationalist type.

“The BBC is big enough and ugly enough to take the criticism on board, ignore it, and get on with our usual state sponsored propaganda and tissues of lies.

“Everyone, especially Rupert Murdoch, attacks the BBC over bias. Kind of tells you something, doesn’t it?”

Moan McVulpine: Good people lashed by evil in high-ish places

MOAN says the main purpose of propaganda is to present ‘subjective’ truth in such a manner that it appeals to the prejudice of the common man in the street. By sticking to a few simple themes ie “Westminster is evil”, and repeating it ad nauseam, you will eventually succeed in making it a truism with some of the weaker minded individuals oot there:

Moan McVulpine Banner
By Moan McVulpine – extracting the vile from evil

PROPAGANDA IS to a democracy what violence is to a dictatorship.

That is one of the least repeated quotes of modern times.

Especially in Scotland.

Because good men and women have to read the abuse heaped upon the British by verbally violent propagandists like Joan McAlpine.

But these good men and women will eventually get their chance to return a verdict on such vile opprobrium.

At the ballot box on Sep 18.

Joanie quite rightly puts the boot in to the alleged state protection cover up of paedophile rings at the heart of British government.

But, as with most things Nationalist, she takes it too far. Way too far.

As with the most successful propaganda, it relies on extreme monomania to make her base point.

Effectively and subtextually, Joanie is telling aw the guid Daily Redcoat reading Scots oot there that to vote No is to vote for paedophiles.

How gross? How tasteless? How Nationalist?

It’s a bit more coded than that and it’s a bit more sophisticated – not by much – but essentially it’s the online boorish cybernat message oft repeated this week of “a vote for No is a vote for child molesters”.

Such crude vulgarian messages, no matter how they’re dressed up, leave a distinctly bad taste in the mouth.

When you consider how ‘close’ Joanie is to the Firstminster and then reflect on his “sadness” over Cardinal O’Brien’s resignation last year, it makes you despair.

Cardinal O’Brien resigned his position due to accusations made by four separate alleged victims of his “predatory behaviour” toward them.

Yet Firstminster Salmond chose to say that “It would be a great pity if a lifetime of positive work was lost from comment in the circumstances of his resignation.”

It’s worth remembering the quote at the beginning of this polemic.

If the likes of Joanie taste real power in an independent Scotland, it won’t be long before her propaganda’s dropped for a taste of the hard stuff.

Thank goodness we* in Scotland will have the chance to sweep away the detritus of Firstminsterial croynisms like McAlpine’s.

Wings Over Scotland – His Struggle Against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice.

AHDINNAEKEN would like to thank BBC Radio 4’s Moral Maze for the inspiration for this piece. The niggling memory of Wings Over Scotland’s narrative tone came to us* in a flash  following the intro of the discussion programme earlier this month. AhDinnaeKen explains:

The uncompromising language of the hate-preacher in full flow.

The uncompromising language of the hate-preacher. Concise, succinct, hateful.

By Longshanker aka @ergasiophobe

“NOT EVERYONE knows that Adolf Hitler originally wanted to call the autobiography he wrote in jail, ‘Four and a Half Years (of Struggle) Against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice’.” – reported Michael Buerk in his opening to Radio 4’s Moral Maze.

Instead, Hitler opted for his publisher’s much snappier suggestion, ‘My Struggle’ (Mein Kampf).

Worthy of note – and the reason for this post – the dropped line, ‘Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice’, of the original title is the type of language frequently encountered within the pages and Tweets of the partisan independence blog, Wings Over Scotland.

Curiousity piqued, in a moment of epiphany, AhDinnaeKen explored further using some objectively judicious research methods based on those key words.

As we* searched through Mein Kampf and Wings Over Scotland, it became increasingly clear that Wings’ blog uses a similar writing style**, narrative construction, thought process and content eerily similar to that used by Hitler in his titular book.

In fact, as we* ploughed on, the similarity became deeply unsettling, disturbing and ever so slightly sinister.

It might just be the commonality of some aspects of Nationalism, such as the ‘struggle for freedom’, which makes the narratives sound so much alike, but it’s worth giving some careful consideration to the examples presented here by AhDinnaeKen.

With each example, contrast and compare the first paragraph taken from a post by Wings Over Scotland, with the second in terms of tone, language and similarity. The second paragraph of each is directly sourced from Mein Kampf. For the purpose of illustration, we chose the paragraphs so that they provided the impression of a narrative continuity between the two:

THE CRUSHING OF A PEOPLEpublished 2nd Feb 2014

“And now so ingrained into Scottish DNA is this cancer of cringing inferiority that even a homeless Big Issue seller, with no detectable sense of irony, will allow himself be quoted saying he has “too much to lose”. We could weep, readers. But we daren’t, in case it puts out the fires of our rage.”

The lack of character which our people have shown during the last six years is deeply distressing. The indifference with which they have treated the most urgent necessities of our nation might veritably lead one to despair. Their cowardice is such that it often cries to heaven for vengeance.”

“The cancer of cringing inferiority” and “fires of our rage” compare, almost directly, to “lack of character” and “cries to heaven for vengeance”.

THE BLOOD SACRIFICE published 9th Feb 2014

“No nation has ever willingly voted against its own independence, and if you have a campaign based solely on fear, the only reason you give people to vote for you is cowardice. And while cowardice is sometimes the rational thing to do, it never makes anyone feel good about themselves.”

Indeed it would be hard to say what is the most outstanding feature of these bourgeois circles: mental debility, moral weakness and cowardice, or a mere down-at-heel mentality. It is a class that is certainly doomed to go under but, unhappily, it drags down the whole nation with it into the abyss.”

Worthy of note is the linking of the word “cowardice” – a favourite word of Mr Campbell’s to castigate the ‘enemies’ of Yes.

Even the titles used by Campbell: ‘The Crushing of a People’ and ‘The Blood Sacrifice’ have resonance with Hitler’s blood and soil ideology.

We* limited this piece to the use of two extracts from Mein Kampf due to the controversial nature of the source material. Any more could have been misconstrued as promotion – we*’re keen to avoid that claim.

Due to that self imposed limitation, this post hardly provides incontrovertible evidence on an empirical scale.

Mein Kampf is the bible of angry Nationalist hate-preachers throughout the world and is still as deeply repugnant and shocking as it ever was. It’s a non-stop froth flecked tirade against the free press, democratically elected governments, politicians, the general population and the Jews.

Sound familiar?

What we* found as we* paired off various diatribes is that you could swap “Jews” with “Unionists” in the text of Mein Kampf and could be forgiven for thinking you were reading Wings – the rants are so similar in tone, intent and motivation that it’s really quite breathtakingly disturbing.

We*’ve tried to avoid glibness or intemperance with this post. If Mr Campbell feels that he’s being unfairly represented then AhDinnaeKen will print any retraction or apology he cares to submit – within reason.

But, the more quotes we* gathered and compared in our* research, the more we* became convinced by the need to say what has been said here and the manner in which we*’ve said it. Be rest assured, this piece hasn’t been posted with the glib smart arsed assurance we* post our other stories.

AhDinnaeKen has never deflected from calling Wings Over Scotland’s, Stuart Campbell, a hate-preacher. And never before has the right to refer to Wings as the ‘Nationalist Front’ been so clearly vindicated.

It's not a racial identity, but it is a common enemy suitable for 'othering'.

It’s not a racial identity, but it is a common enemy suitable for ‘othering’ for the purposes of communal hatred.

Two of Campbell’s online bête noires, Duncan Hothersall and James McKenzie, have both openly stated that Campbell isn’t a Nazi.

They’re probably right. Campbell probably isn’t a Nazi. But, by the Christ, he sounds like one – the biggest, maddest, one of them all.

We* never quite thought that the depths of Campbell’s rage, hatred and bile would be so comprehensively plumbed and exposed by this project. But there are plenty more examples where they came from.

We* invite readers, based on the paltry fare served up here today, to make up their own minds.

* Tired overly used cliche of a joke which even we have forgotten the meaning of.

** Based on the key words of ‘lies’, ‘stupidity’ and ‘cowardice’ and their permutations in terms of tense, grammar etc.

Health pledge: Waiting times will be longer in an independent Scotland

INDEPENDENT WATCHDOG Audit Scotland found that the number of patients experiencing over extended waiting times at casualty departments has tripled over the past five years – a period which coincides with SNP governance of the Scottish NHS. AhDinnaeKen reports:

"Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing when you'll get seen to, is the worse kind of suffering." - Paulo Coelho

“Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing when you’ll be seen to, is the worst kind of suffering.” – Paulo Coelho

By Troofis Ootthare

ALEX NEIL has reassured Scotland that waiting times in A&E departments will be extended under independence.

The health secretary insisted that only upon achieving our ffrreeddoomm™ can we expect to wait longer in casualty.

He told the imperial propagandist BBC: “Past administrations waiting times have been rubbish. Only upon achieving independence can we guarantee that health service waiting times will be even more rubbish.

“We have wasted a further £50 million pounds on proving that a Nationalist based NHS can be just as rubbish, if not more rubbish, than the UK’s.”

Drunks, wasters, hypochondriacs and junkies welcomed the announcement.

Robin Bassa, a client/consultant of the Scottish government’s methadone programme said:

“This’ll be great man. The longer and mair bored people wait at the casualty, the mair chance there is tae dip their bag or their pockets.

“We welcome these findings by Audit Scotland.”

Health experts said Mr Neil’s plan served as a guide toward what can’t be expected from an independent Scotland.

Doctor Urye Awrightpal said: “More nurses and support staff will lose their jobs, more cancer patients will die due to lack of lifesaving drugs and waiting times at A&E will lengthen if we become independent.

“You just have to look at what the SNP Health Secretary hasn’t achieved so far to see how much more he won’t achieve in a future independent Scotland.”

Alternative ‘crackpot’ news site of truth, information and Nationalist doctrine, Newsnat Scotland welcomed the Audit Scotland figures:

“This Audit Scotland report gives us yet another excuse to attack the British Brainwashing Corporation for the imperialist, out of touch, elitist, anti-Scots, propaganda machine that all sane persons know it has become.

“By reporting these independent findings they have exposed yet again what they have become and what they are – a newsgathering organisation.

“Things will be different in an independent Scotland. We guarantee it”

Beware the ides of the BBC. Reporting on the findings of an independent body. Imperialist propaganda at its worst.

Beware the ides of the BBC. Reporting on the findings of an independent body. Imperialist propaganda at its worst.

Press Gazette, Wings Over Scotland and journalism by assertion

THE IMPORTANCE in journalism of verifying sources of facts can not be overstated. The general rule is that any fact of importance reported by a journalist should be verified by at least two trustworthy sources. AhDinnaeKen investigates a report in yesterday’s online Press Gazette claiming that pseudo-political website Wings Over Scotland raised over £100,000 via crowdfunding:

"Most media organisations have a rule that all facts should be confirmed by two reliable sources." - Media helping Media. Seems that's not the case at the Press Gazette any longer.

“Most media organisations have a rule that all facts should be confirmed by two reliable sources.” – Media helping Media. Seems that’s not the case at the Press Gazette any longer.

By Hookline Ansinker

“WINGS OVER Scotland raises £100k via crowdfunding” trumpeted the online version of the Press Gazette yesterday.

AhDinnaeKen read the story – and the comments below the line – a couple of times and cannot vouch for its veracity.

A grave state of affairs given that this is the prestigious Press Gazette, with a reputation to maintain, and not just a cheerleading blog for Wingsy.

You see, the story appears to have broken a couple of the basic tenets of journalism ie it has not verified or corroborated its facts from a trustworthy independent source.

This state of affairs is reinforced, ironically, by the Jedi Reverend Campbell himself who picked up on three small alleged inaccuracies reported in the piece: 1) the timing of the alleged passing of the £100,000 mark, 2) the number of unique readers of his site and 3) the very very basic spelling of his name. (At the time of writing these inaccuracies have been corrected – source Jedi Rev Campbell)

Hardly a confidence builder in the veracity of the story which leads with the line, “A pro-independence Scottish political website has raised more than £100,000 via crowdfunding in the space of a couple of weeks.”

The only sources quoted or referred to in the story are Campbell himself and someone called Amanda Geary of the University of the West of Scotland.

It’s notable by its absence that Amanda’s authority or expertise in the field, or whatever she is, isn’t revealed – she could be a tea lady for all the reader knows.

Keen readers will also note that Amanda’s University is the same University which employs Professor John Robertson – the professor who recently couldn’t back his research data when he claimed that the BBC’s news reports were biased against independence.

To paraphrase Scottish comedienne, Karen Dunbar, “Do I smell shite?”

Far be it from the likes of AhDinnaeKen to question the integrity or veracity of the Press Gazette’s reporter, Ray Clancy, but we*’d like to know just one thing:

Was the alleged figure of £100k+ raised, independently verified by Ray?

There is not one line in the story which suggests that the figure was verified independently. In fact, Campbell’s BTL comment on inaccuracies suggests that the source was Campbell himself – hardly trustworthy in this instance.

If the figure wasn’t independently verified, it can only be concluded that this story highlights the scourge of modern online journalism – journalism by assertion.

Professional journalism, to maintain its integrity must, with the emphasis on MUST, be journalism by verification.

Otherwise it’s mere propaganda and undermines its role in society.

As a recent blog by AhDinnaeKen highlighted, it is perfectly feasible and possible for an Indiegogo fundraising recipient to re-route monies raised in a ‘Flexible’ campaign straight back into the said Indiegogo account.

Campbell has been notably prickly when questioned on this. But he’s never actually shut down potential detractors by providing verifiable evidence.

Coincidence or magic? You decide!

Moan McVulpine: Skintland is a great wee country in more ways than just Indyref

Moan reckons the Commonweal Games will set a valuable lesson for any Skints unwilling to toe the Nationalist line.

Moan McVulpine Banner
By Moan McVulpineMaking her bed and lying in it

THE TICKETS have gone on sale, the correction camps are in place and everything is pointing towards 2014 Glasgone being the most successful Commonweal games in the history of  world history ever.

We can look forward to rooting out non-patriots and those who would talk their country down using the saltire test. Anyone not keeping a saltire in their mum/wife’s bag will be assumed guilty as charged.

Because, in the Commonweal Games, unlike the Scolympics, we get the chance to villify the basturt English.

The Commonweal Games isn’t just a political inspiration. It’s a great example of how to brutally accuse people of being anti-Scots. What other excuse could there possibly be for not wrapping yourself in a saltire during the Commonweal games?

Many kids these days don’t know much about the origins of the Commonweal of 54 member blogs. These games will give us the excuse to shove Skintishness doon their throats.

It will have a lasting legacy for future generations. It will teach them that if they don’t appear patriotic enough they can expect to be ‘corrected’ – their parents too, for not being good enough in the ‘civic’ parenthood stakes.

This will present some really useful lessons for future generations. The main one being that Skintish soldiers were used as the shock troop ‘devils in skirts’ to militarily dominate, subjugate, oppress and occupy those bloody foreigners lands stupid enough to resist our English masters imperial aims. And, lest we forget, it made us rich beyond our dreams.

Despite blood origins, many in this country cling to the belief that the empire wiz nuthin’ tae dae wi’ us. They couldnae be mare wrang.

Skintish shock troops imposed more brutality and profited from others stolen resources proportionally more than the English.

An easy legacy to forget and ignore given our junior partner status.

From the conquered peoples vantage point, they blamed it all on London. And that’s what we Nationalist Front types do also. We will try and kid on it wiz nuthin tae dae wi’ us and align ourselves with an anti-London bias.

Nationalism works best with a common enemy and grievance to monotonously bang on about at every opportunity. It attracts the weak of mind, the dispossessed, the impotently frustrated and the out and out loonies – look at Joan McArthyalpine and some of her Nationalist Front friends.

Once, jingoistic types could get away with calling the English ‘poofs’ and any other insulting name they cared to conjure up.

Those days are passed now and in the past they must remain.

But we can still blame now and be the Nation again, that whinges against them, Westminster’s barmy and send them homeward, tae whinge again.

But the world moves on and, having gained independence, the Commonweal nations will probably say tae us, “Ha ha, that’s whit ye get for siding wi’ a big bully. Ye’s made yer bed – lie in it.

Glasgone 2014 will be proof of that.

We’ll still sleep in the same bed – according tae Eck – we just want mare o’ the covers.
