Sturgeon proposes final solution for BBC bias

THE PRAVDA-ESQUE BBC must learn who its true masters are said Saint Nicola of Sturgeon yesterday. AhDinnaeKen reports:

Fake 'Reverends' shall be the new televangelists of journalistic propriety said a Nationalist spokesperson yesterday.

Fake ‘Reverends’ shall be the new televangelists of journalistic truth, propriety and integrity said no Nationalist spokesperson yesterday.

By Meeja Byaasculture media and BBC anti-Scots bias correspondent

SAINT NICOLA of Sturgeon has accused the BBC of letting her country down.

She claimed the corporation had failed to show due deference to Sun King Alex of Salmond and had never once referred to him as “Your grace”.

The Firstminster also said the broadcaster had regularly failed to properly reflect on just how great independence would be for her, her party, her sovereign people and her sovereign people’s party.

And she added that some sovereign viewers in Scotland were left with the impression that the SNP didn’t have all the answers which, of course, it does.

Saint Nicola added she did not believe there was “institutional bias” in the BBC’s referendum output – she knew the bias was “sustained and unrelentingly unfair” and “brainwashing” in its criticism of magic money tree eckonomics.

Speaking at the Edinburgh International TV Festival, she said the Tories ideological assault on the institution could also provide an opportunistic ‘final solution’ for Scotland: nicknamed GIRFEV (Getting It Right For Every Viewer), all BBC journalists would have a ‘named person’ responsible for overseeing their broadcasting output.

She said: “We have put forward a further amendment that BBC staff and journalists should sign a new BBC code of conduct pledging they would not publicly criticise a decision, policy or consequences of a SNP decision or policy.

“The sovereign will of the Scottish Nationalist people expects no less than due deference from their public broadcaster. Any other standard will be viewed as apostasy and dereliction of duty and be treated accordingly.

“If Scotland’s elected representatives can be gagged by SNP diktat, then it is only right and fair that the unelected and undemocratic BBC should be bound by the same rules.”

Wings, Lies, and Christina McKelvie MSP

CHRISTINA MCKELVIE SNP MSP nailed her colours to the mast of “oddball-in-chief”, Stuart Campbell of Wings Over Scotland, last night, prompting AhDinnaeKen to ask, is this the calibre of MSP we’re going to have to tolerate from the Nationalist Holyrood parliament for evermore?

There seems to be some factionalising over Wings in the SNP at the moment. Salmondites are wholeheartedly recommending the site. Sturgeonites are much more circumspect. Funny that.

By Longshanker aka @ergasiophobe

IT’S A well known maxim of propaganda that propagandists frequently exploit truths useful to their cause and airbrush over or omit those truths which, inconveniently, are not so helpful.

It’s why the best propaganda is mostly true but, due to its nature and purpose, can never quite be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

In that spirit of propagandising, it’s easy to conclude that the best you’ll ever get with the Wings Over Scotland blog is: not quite the truth.

Take the subject of a recent Twitter exchange between SNP MSP Christina McKelvie and Labour MSP Neil Findlay. It concerned a comment made by Jim Murphy MP during the BBC’s leader debates first screened on 8th April.

Murphy claimed that the SNP had voted with the Tories in order to stymy some Labour amendments to the Welfare Funds (Scotland) Bill. The amendments proposed that, where appropriate, Councils should provide eligible claimants with “cash” payments instead of “vouchers” in order to avoid stigma.

In reference to the SNP/Tory vote Murphy said:

“Labour said let’s give them cash payments. The SNP sided with the Tories to give them vouchers.”

Cue much wailing and gnashing of teeth from FM Nicola Sturgeon and an attempt to divert away from the specific claim made by Murphy.

She categorically failed to rebut Murphy’s allegation and managed to make his sanctimonious politicking seem all the more poignant – much to the pleasure of the clapping audience.

In the Twitter echo chamber meanwhile, @WingsScotland tweeted a reference to a Wings propaganda blog entitled “This is how you tell a lie”.

It allegedly “debunks” the Murphy claim that the SNP voted with the Tories. Like Sturgeon’s attempt at the rebuttal of Jim’s point, it also categorically failed.

The essential allegation driving Campbell’s self righteous finger wagging is that Labour’s proposed amendments sought to “remove councils’ flexibility to decide in what form to give the help, by having the Scottish Government impose rules forcing councils to give such help in cash only.”

Like most of Campbell’s propaganda, it’s less than half true. And in anyone’s language, a half-truth is a whole lie.

Campbell’s lie cyncially exploits his readers credulousness and propensity to swallow his narrative wholesale and without question. (So no change there then.)

If Labour’s proposed amendments had been added, the relevant sections in the Welfare Funds Bill would have read as follows:

2 Use of welfare funds: assistance for short term need and community care

(1) A local authority may use its welfare fund only in order to provide occasional financial assistance to or in such circumstances as may be prescribed in regulations under subsection (3A), other assistance—

(a) meeting, or helping to meet, an immediate short term need—

(i) arising out of an exceptional event or exceptional circumstances, and

(ii) that requires to be met to avoid a risk to the wellbeing of an individual, or

Subsection 3A referred to above would have completely replaced the original subsection 3 and have read thus:

(3A) The Scottish Ministers may, by regulations, make provision about the circumstances in which a local authority may —

(a) provide goods or services to or in respect of an individual, or

(b) make a payment to a third party with a view to the third party providing, or
arranging the provision of, goods or services to or in respect of an individual.

Scrutiny reveals that Campbell’s false accusation of the amendments allowing the Scottish Government to ‘force councils’ to provide assistance in “cash only” is a plain and simple untruth.

Ken McIntosh, the Labour proposer of the amendments, put it in a simpler manner that even Campbell should have understood.

McIntosh said:

“…local authorities are not restricted in any way in how they decide to support the applicant; they can do so through an award of goods, vouchers or whatever type of in-kind payment they choose, rather than in cash. The effect of the three amendments in the group would not be to change or restrict that range of options, but would simply be to give ministers the authority to produce regulations about the circumstances in which councils can make non-cash awards.”

A plain and simple explanation in anyone’s world, except perhaps Campbell’s, his “alert readers” and his increasing cohort of SNP MPs and MSP backers.

Which brings us back to Christina McKelvie MSP and Neil Findlay MSP.

It’s a bit rich that Christina should be calling anyone a liar given that she campaigned and appeared on the same platform as convicted serial liar and perjurer Tommy Sheridan during the indyref.

McKelvie not only called Murphy and Neil Findlay liars she then compounded her lie by referring to Stuart Campbell’s rant against Labour as the “truth.”

In Chris Deerin’s recent leftfield polemic about Scotland losin’ the heid, he said the following of the cybernats:

“If anyone on social media – especially, God forbid, a non-Scot – dares to challenge these ludicrous myths they are descended on by the ‘cybernats’, a swarm of angry oddballs who refuse to read the ‘mainstream media’ and who take their lead from the oddball-in-chief, Stuart Campbell, a self-styled Reverend who lives in Bath and runs a ranting website called Wings Over Scotland.”

It’s a sad day when an elected representative of the Scottish people like Christina McKelvie MSP, takes the lead of a fallacious “ranting” liar like Campbell and acts like a ranting cybernat herself. Especially when, like Campbell, she got it so spectacularly wrong. It’s almost as if she has no awareness or worse, cares less, about how her error stricken endorsement of a Nationalist Front extremist like Campbell appears to the world.

The SNP did vote with the Tories to defeat the more humanitarian appearing Labour amendments.

Campbell either deliberately ignored the purpose of the amendments or failed to understand them. Otherwise, how could he possibly interpret them as an attempt by Ken McIntosh to have the Scottish Government impose “cash only” rules on councils?

Christina McKelvie needs to clarify what’s “true” about that claim by Cambpell. If she doesn’t then there’s only one conclusion that can be reached – she’s a liar herself.

This is part of the list of the SNP MSPs who voted with their Tory chums against Labour's more humanitarian amendment. Truth hurts.

This is part of the list of the SNP MSPs who voted with their Tory chums against Labour’s more humanitarian amendment. Christina is directly below her Tory ally Jamie McGrigor. Complaints about Christina should be lodged in green crayola crayon to Oddball In Chief, Wings Over Scotlandland.

Crybaby Nationalist takes to the bottle

A REDTOP newspaper exposes a vile threat from loose cannon cybernat Nick Durie. He repeatedly uses a word which suggests the potential influence of Stuart “Blub-blub” Campbell’s extremist blog, Wings Over Scotland. And a nugget of pre-indyref information slips out. Consequently, Blub-blub Campbell takes to the bottle for solace. AhDinnaeKen, with obvious caveats, falls off its proverbial seat laughing. Here’s why:

Don't do it Wingman. The country is depending on you. :)

Don’t do it Wingman. The country is depending on you. 🙂

By Longshanker aka @ergasiophobe

THE DAILY Record yesterday reported a vilely worded threat against indyref supporter and activist, Aidan Kerr, now defined by cybernats as a “defector”.

“Defector” is used four times in a sanctimonious tirade by “dedicated dad” and threatening cybernat, Nick Durie, who chillingly said of Aidan that he should be “castigated, shut down and prevented from operating”. Scary stuff and not very funny at all.

All that's missing are words like "cleansing" and "quisling" and "traitor to his country",

All that’s missing are words like “cleansing” and “quisling” and “traitor to his country”,

Ross McCafferty, social media commentator and mostly amusing wag, highlighted that the use of the word “defector” was used by Stuart Campbell in his blog predating Durie’s attack. Considering that Durie types are attracted to Wings like flies to something decidedly unpleasant, the link is a logical but potentially fallacious one to make – post hoc proctor ergo hoc etc.

A quick investigation proved Ross’s observation to be correct. But, to be fair to Blub-blub Campbell, he had used the word in quotes, suggesting its original use may have originated elsewhere.

Published on the 16th Feb this year, it certainly predates Durie's vile attack.

Published in the Wings on the 16th Feb this year, the use of “defector”certainly predates Durie’s vile attack. Coincidence or magic that Durie referred to Aidan Kerr as a “defector”? You decide.

So, was Campbell partly to blame for Durie’s tirade? Who knows? The jury’s out and we* certainly couldn’t say he was. We* know how authoritarian and bullying Campbell is and how fond he is of threatening law suits or setting the authorities on people to shut opinion down. So we*’re saying nothing.

There are several threads attached to this story and readers can follow them as they will.

AhDinnaeKen is concerned with the bombshell dropped by Yes campaigner, organiser and activist Ross Greer – referred to by Campbell at the top of the page.

According to Greer, much of his time and fellow Yes campaign organiser Jonathan Mackie’s time, was spent keeping the likes of Nick Durie and Wings Over Scotland as far away from the official Yes campaign as possible.

Official Yes campaign organiser openly admits Wings caused the campaign problems - shock. Cognitive dissonance a go-go.

Official Yes campaign organiser openly admits Wings caused the campaign problems – shock. Cognitive dissonance a go-go.

They clearly recognised the real and potential danger of such toxic campaigners being directly linked to their movement.

Public perception is everything in such vital campaigns and it’s possible, given a bit of conjecture and whataboutery, that the Yes campaign could have achieved a better result had they not been impaired by and associated with the likes of Campbell and his “creepy as f**k” grassroot surveillance goons.

What we do know, is that the poor wee hate-preaching blubberer is blubbing away into his vodka bottle in the official knowledge that the Yes campaign considered him to be as toxic as Nick Durie.

Blub-blub indeed.

We*’re still laughing.

Next!

The bottom tweet precedes the one above - proving that cybernats and extremist hate preachers have no sense of irony or self awareness. Natch!

This is a screengrab of Campbell’s Twitter timeline last night. The bottom tweet precedes the one above – proving that cybernats and extremist hate preachers have no sense of irony or self awareness at all. Natch!

Lookalikes: Nationalist bookburners on tour

Sir

Has anyone noticed the remarkable similarity between Nationalist sponsored “Action against the Un-German Spirit” in 1933 and the Nationalist sponsored “Action against the Un-Scottish Spirit” in today’s modern ‘progressive Scotland 2014? I think we should be told.

Yours sincerely

‘Yes’ campaigners fury over Sky News bias – Faisal Islam accused

Nationalist fundamentalists gave Scotland an object lesson in how to shoot the messenger recently. AhDinnaeKen cringes:

MSM conspiracy. Journalist tells truth in order to lie to sovereign people of Scotland.

MSM conspiracy. Journalist tells truth in order to lie to sovereign people of Scotland.

By Truther McTruth

THERE WAS fury from Yes fundamentalists last night following accusations that Sky News’ Political editor, Faisal Islam told the truth about the fall in oil prices.

“This anti-Scottish mainstream media liar lied to the public by not lying and telling the truth” frothed Mr A 45’er.

“Faisal Islam seems determined to childishly report that the oil price has dropped and implies that previous SNP government projections of $110 per barrel were hopelessly optimistic and delusional.

“It would be much fairer if Mr Islam just admitted that his reporting is a mainstream media trick perepetrated by No voting coffin dodgers to make pre-referendum SNP projections look ridiculous.

“Faisal has form on this. He made Firstminster Salmond look stupid and deceptive over the currency union by asking him honest pertinent questions. And that’s just not good enough.

“What we want is the truthful truth about just how truthful the SNP are. Thank goodness we can just stick our fingers in our ears and read The National.”

Has anyone noticed the similarity between the state sponsored rally in 2014 which “changed Scottish politics forever” and the state sponsored rally in 1938 which “changed Euro-politics forever”? I think we should be told.

Moan McVulpine: Nationalist eulogising of Salmond as anything other than a loser won’t sit well with public

MOAN IS amused that the Nationalists couldn’t resist deifying a porky pugnacious political pugilist as some kind of ‘Scottish’ hero.
Testing
By Moan McVulpinetaking the myth oot o’ everybody

THE MANNER of Lastminster Salmond’s going says a lot about the state of the Nationalists today.

They forgot he’s a bitter ungracious acrimonious loser. Instead, they virtually deified him.

In his resignation speech to the Big Parish Cooncil, it finally sunk in that he had convincingly failed in his lifetime ambition for Alba.

And that’s his true legacy.

But his febrile acolytes, the SNP in particular, could not stop themselves from thinking that he had achieved some kind of victory.

Failed ex-Transport Minister, Stewart Stevenson, likened the Lastminster to John F Kennedy – presumably after his brains had just been blown out.

But it’s the allegedly sane Nationalists I just cannot fathom.

Despite the fact that their ‘hero’ failed in his ill constructed quest, they still have the gall to talk about Scotland’s “democratic deficit” – their actions since the referendum clearly show that they cannot accept Scotland’s democratic decision on their party’s raison d’être.

Now that’s what I call a democratic deficit.

Or Nationalism in the raw – whichever way you want to phrase it.

The advice “get ower it and move on” comes to mind.

The Lastminster is still bleating about holding Westminster’s feet to the fire.

Like his successor he’s still rambling on about another referendum because of some off the cuff opinion poll.

When it comes to graciousness in defeat or a showing of statesmanlike magnanimity – like the referendum result – Salmond has convincingly failed to impress Scotland.

It shows that Nationalists and Nationalism will never learn.
